Happy Cinco de MEyo!

Hola! Who’d have thought that such a huge celebration would happen on ME’s 4-month BIRTHDAY!! Just think, a day in either direction would have taken a little arriba, arriba, arriba out of the celebration!

So what are Madelaine (aka La Flaca) and Eleanor (aka La Duerma) doing to combine two celebrations on this stupendous day…well, with the help of Dora the Explorer (ME’s favorite Spanish cartoon!), we’re off on our festive adventure to simultaneously make the most of Cinco de MEyo and show off our progress:

Piñata Play: No Cinco de Mayo would be complete without the smashing of the Piñata! Our version is a little bit different since we lie on our backs on the exermat and “smash” the hanging stuffed animals. By swinging our arms and legs ME are making light Piñata work of the stuffed animals. Imagine what ME would do if there was candy in the animals…are you listening Mom and Dad!

Craft Hour: Without the smell of enchiladas and sound of Mariachi bands in the air, ME are hawking their hand-made MExican trinkets (can anyone say child labor laws!) to passer-bys-formula and diapers aren’t cheap! Negotiating a fair price for our trinkets is tough in itself, but come on, we’re only 4-months old and in Spanish!! As you can see ME are sitting steadily upright in their Bumbo seats and properly covering up their sensitive skin with their sombreros!

Sombrero Dance: Don’t Cry for ME Argentina…ouch, friction on the carpet isn’t too bad while doing the traditional Sombrero Floor Dance since it allows ME to show off their moving skills: slide, roll, kick, slide, roll, and again…Grown ups are supposed to do this dance standing on two feet, but until ME start walking they said the low-rider version is cool! ME’s suggestion: change the national hat of Mexico to a baseball cap so it’s easier to dance around the “hat!”

In closing, you can see ME have kept busy with our activities and growth. Who knows, maybe next year we will do this blog not only in Spanish but maybe from a Spanish-speaking country!

Cha Cha Cha Chair-a-Pet!

Be honest friends and family out there, you’ve seen and even bought one conveniently sold at both “As Seen on TV” stores and infomercials of the 80’s. We’re talking about the Chia Pet animals that grow right before your eyes: simply spread on moistened seeds of chia, add a little water, and presto you’ve got a bushy animal with Jack-in-the-Beanstalk-style growth sprouting up like a Panamanian Jungle! Now what does this have to do with ME? Well, crazy as it sounds, Mom and Dad (or does MaD sound better?) succumbed to the hypnotic spell of the salesperson at the Seen on TV store, in that they bought a Chia Buddha (ME don’t think they make ‘em, but he makes the story more interesting: picture Buddha’s contemporary rogaine-esque Afro!) Now back on track. So when we returned home from ME’s 1st MOA (you’re in the Army now, whether you like it or not Private Acronym!) trip, Dad quickly offloaded Buddha and placed it on ME’s Mellow Yellow (MY) chair innocently enough, right? Or so it seemed…After ME made it upstairs, Dad moved Buddha and placed ME in the MY chair for another photo op.

ME believe that some of Buddha’s Mojo spilled onto the MY chair, because every time ME sit in it they grow (the photos are evidence enough!) 1, 2, 3 inches right before your eyes…maybe ME should have their own As Seen on TV (infAmercial) infomercial!

So how do ME stack up on the Buddha Growth Chart! (standing up of course!): Eleanor seems to have made a metaphysical connection with Buddha as she’s tipping the scale at almost 12 pounds. Maybe because Madelaine didn’t rub Buddha’s head (harder with the ‘fro, so theoretically less effective!), she is still on the lighter side at 10 pounds. So, in continuation of the seemingly anticlimactic battle of ME’s respective (nonexistent) lengths, ME still measure the same at 23.5 inches-look out 2 feet, here come 4 (pitter patter).

In closing, ME are still two happy, smiley chicas (ME can taste Cinco de Mayo) who rock the days away in the MY chair, growing for their next blog update! Hasta pronto! Love ya, ME!

The 1st Annual MEaster Egg Hunt winner is…

Whew, what a week of Easter celebration it has been for ME: dressing up in our beautiful Easter dresses, finding and opening our first baskets, taking pictures, and everything else little ones do during the Big Day! But with all the cheer and good feelings (who said so?) come a little competition that’s been developing for some time between ME, beginning with who got more belly space starting almost 12 months ago through today’s great hunt!

The competitive day of finding our first Easter baskets went like this: Madelaine overslept next to Mom because of the “sleeping potion” (not to be confused with Dad’s) emitted by Mom, which has the spell-bounding effect of making any infant sleep for hours on end. Because of M’s oversight, Eleanor-who sleeps with one eye open many nights-rolled over and announced her pre-planned rising at o-dark-thirty with her famous Elmo voice (not so funny!). With Dad next to her and without Mom’s “potion” (to clarify, it is a combination of snuggly love and sweet kisses throughout the night!) working its sleepy magic, Eleanor had an early start to the Easter Egg Hunt, leaving M only dreaming of becoming the 1st Annual MEaster Egg Hunt Champion!

Not to be outdone, Madelaine decided to put on a tour de force show of screaming so she could get Mom’s attention for a ride down the Easter Egg Trail. Being a little bit smaller, which gives her a little more agility and stamina, M hopped into action and caught up with sneaky E without missing an egg beat. Since Dad needs his morning coffee-and until he gets it he’s a little slow-Madelaine caught up with her bigger and stronger, but not as agile, sister. With both baskets in their sights, ME made short work of the endless space (1 foot is a mile for ME!) between them and their Easter Baskets hiding in plain sight in the living room! Stretching out, using all of the inches of length God gave them, ME reached out in a dead tie because they are still the same length after all this time!

And so the great saga continues for the eternal race to the finish line for ME! What’s next: Cinco de Mayo-arriba, arriba, arriba!!!!
